Preparing for your newborn photos? Sweet! Scroll on for my TOP 3 Tips to Prepare for your Lifestyle Newborn Session! And trade that overwhelm for some joy and anticipation!!
First off, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Whether you are expecting, just had your baby or you’re planning ahead, I am so glad you are here!
Ready? Awesome!! Here are my TOP 3 Ways to Prepare For Your Newborn Session, BUT If you want to skid ahead to my FULL Newborn Prep Guide Click HERE
#1 Lay Out The Clothes
Picking what you and everyone will wear ahead of time will take a lot of stress out of preparing for this. Leave them in a safe place so no little hands or pets can get a hold of them!
For Baby
Pick 1-2 of your favorite swaddles, 1-2 plain onesies, bow, or headbands for the little ladies.
*I will bring my own collection of swaddles, wraps & headbands*
*BONUS TIPS*
- For Mom and Dad- Set out 2 different options. This will set you up well in case of spit-up or a last-minute change of mind
- Choosing Light colors for Mom will reflect well onto the baby’s face and typically when dads wear an opposite color in a darker shade it will complement well!
*Bonus Tips*
Keep it simple, this draws your focus to you and your baby, as well as highlights each of their incredible features. I mean, is there anything cuter than teeny tiny baby toes!!!

#3 Feed the Baby
If you are breastfeeding and they can take a bottle consider prepping that so it’s an option. This helps the baby be content, full, and happy. Then they usually fall asleep which
Or have nursing essentials set out for feeds right before and during the session
#3 GET SOME BOXES
You might be thinking, “huh?” what for? Well, let me explain!
This will eliminate some of the stress of getting ready. Instead of meticulously cleaning and organizing, throw everything into a box in EACH room and you’re done!
Now you have time to breathe, get ready, and not rush around. I recommend having 1 Box or Storage ub for each room! Then you will keep things where they belong and not lug everything around the whole house!!
What should you put in these boxes?? ANYTHING that you don’t want in the pictures. And when the session is over, put everything back. This will make the cleaning up simplified and fast. I do not care if your house has clutter or laundry you haven’t gotten too
There ya go! Those are my Top 3 Newborn Session Prep Tips!! Here’s a recap before we go:
- Prep Outfits BEFOREHAND: No running around the day off!
- FEED Baby right before the Session. Bottle or Boob
- Get Boxes: Easy clean up!
